Is this person the same on the inside as he or she appears to be on the outside? Children ask this about their parents, students about their teachers, employees about their supervisors, patients about their physicians and citizens about their political leaders. When the answer is yes, we relax, believing that we are in the presence of integrity and feeling secure enough to invest ourselves in the relationship and all that surrounds it. - Parker J. Palmer
In 1998 Parker Palmer published a little book, The Courage to Teach, in which he explored in the inner life of the teacher and the challenges that teachers face in maintaining the passion for this important calling. This book struck such a chord with educators around the world that Parker ultimately developed a small group approach to working with professionals in various fields, and led to the the formation of The Center for Courage and Renewal.
Wes is currently exploring avenues for offering process groups based on this important material. If an experience of this sort is of interest to you, please contact Wes at wmeades@gmail.com. For programs currently being offered in North Texas, please visit Courage and Renewal of North Texas.
